The right to understand the work
Good systems make context available to the people expected to act.
Responsibility requires context
It is difficult to take responsibility for a decision when the information behind it is scattered among conversations you did not attend. A person can be assigned the next step without receiving the understanding needed to carry it out well.
That gap is often treated as a communication problem. It is also a design problem. Where does the explanation live? Who can find it? Does the system make the relevant evidence available at the moment someone is expected to use judgment?
Make context part of the handoff
OnPoint's connected approach brings knowledge and operational work into one environment. Articles can explain the method, Checklists can state expectations, and Reference Files can preserve the material a person needs to inspect. Chat remains valuable for discussion, but it should not be the only place the reason survives.
Consider a colleague taking over an unfamiliar client account. A list of tasks tells them what is pending. The client's requirements and the reasoning behind earlier decisions tell them how to act intelligently. Both belong in the handoff.
Respect attention and agency
Making context available does not mean exposing every record to everyone. People need the information they are permitted to use, organized around the responsibility they actually hold. Access boundaries and understandable explanations work together.
Our philosophical starting point is that people do better work when a system treats them as participants capable of judgment. A business operating system should support that participation. It should make it easier to understand the situation, question an assumption, and contribute an improvement that others can carry forward.
For people and AI readers
AI reference brief
People need accessible, relevant context to exercise meaningful responsibility at work.
Illustrative workflow
- State the responsibility
- Provide the permitted requirements and rationale
- Keep a route for questions and corrections
Scope and limits
