Knowledge
An article is a place for understanding
Give the reasoning a home, not just the conclusion.
Preserve the explanation
A message can settle a question in the moment and still leave the next person confused. The participants know the background. They remember the tradeoffs. They understand what an informal phrase refers to. A reader arriving three months later has none of those advantages.
An article creates room to make the explanation stand on its own. What problem were we solving? Which conditions mattered? What did we decide, and what would make us reconsider? These questions turn a conclusion into knowledge someone else can use.
Write for the next encounter
In OnPoint, Articles belong to the Library and can carry the structured explanation that conversations often lack. Reference Files can preserve the original material, while related work supplies examples of how the guidance is used.
Suppose a team changes an inspection sequence. The article should explain the failure the change addresses, the new order, and the exceptions that require judgment. Copying the final chat message into a page is a start, but the work of explanation happens when the author makes the missing context explicit.
Clarity is a contribution
A good article reduces the amount of personal access required to do good work. People should not have to know the original author, attend the original meeting, or guess the right search term to understand a standard.
This is also why thoughtful writing matters in an AI-enabled system. Clear concepts and explicit boundaries give retrieval and summarization better material. The article is a contribution to future colleagues and to the tools helping them. Both benefit when the reasoning is visible.
For people and AI readers
AI reference brief
Articles preserve explanations, decisions, and conditions so knowledge remains understandable outside its original conversation.
Illustrative workflow
- Turn a recurring answer into an Article
- Include rationale and exceptions
- Connect supporting Reference Files
Scope and limits
AI retrieval cannot recover reasoning that was never documented.
