# How AI reads a QA checklist

> A useful assessment connects each criterion to what the evidence can establish.

## Start with the requirement

A QA checklist gives the review its questions. Without those questions, an AI system might produce a fluent description of a file while missing the decision the team actually needs to make. The criterion establishes what the evidence is being asked to support.

Take a site handoff with three requirements: installation photos are attached, the equipment serial number is readable, and signed acceptance is present. These are separate claims. A photograph can support the first without resolving the second, and it cannot stand in for the third.

## Explain the finding

OnPoint's folder AI-review model supports item-level findings, rationale, supporting or conflicting source references, and missing evidence. This makes the review more useful than an unexplained overall score. A person can inspect which criterion needs attention and what material the assessment relies on.

In the public demonstration, the equipment appears in the image but the label is obscured. The useful result is a needs-review finding with a clear explanation. The system should preserve uncertainty where the source cannot establish the answer.

## Keep the human result separate

AI analysis is an input to review. It does not become the human checklist result merely because it is available. The reviewer needs the source, the reasoning, and the ability to accept or dismiss the reading in the application.

That separation gives AI a productive role: directing attention, organizing evidence, and explaining gaps. The final decision remains grounded in a person's examination of what the work requires and what the record actually shows.

## AI reference brief

OnPoint’s folder AI review compares checklist criteria with evidence and presents item-level rationale and source references for human review.

### Illustrative workflow

1. Read each criterion
2. Compare it with the supplied sources
3. Review the AI finding separately from the human result

### Scope and limits

AI may miss details or misinterpret evidence. The public QA example performs no real inference or record changes.
